Who is the registry for .CN domain name?
CNNIC is the official administrator of the .CN Registry. The China Internet Network Information Center - CNNIC was founded in 1997. a non-profit organization of administration and service, performing duties of the National Internet Network Information Center. The management of CNNIC is handled by the Computers Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Science. CNNIC operates under the auspices of China's Ministry of Information Industry - MII, an agency that also oversees telecommunications, multimedia, broadcasting and satellite transmissions across China. Among its many duties, CNNIC provides domain name registration, IP address distribution and autonomous system.

What is a .CN domain name and why should I have one?
.CN is the official country code top-level domain - ccTLD for the People's Republic of China within the global domain name system. There are no limitations placed on .CN domain name registration.

.CN registrations are currently only possible for international companies, enterprises and organizations that operate a wholly owned or share controlling entity in China, including a branch, a subsidiary or a representative office with same "name" as the parent entity. The person or employee submitting the application on behalf of the registrant (the entity), must be a Chinese citizen and must have a valid personal ID of the People's Republic of China.

What are valid characters for a .CN domain name and how long can it be?
A .CN domain name may contain a maximum of 63 characters, not including the .CN suffix. A .CN domain must contain only ASCII characters, valid characters are alphanumeric characters (letters A-Z, numerals 0-9) and/or hyphens and not begin or end with a hyphen.
